GPs

Please use the NHS Choices panel below to find GP surgeries in your area or click here to find other services.  It is important to note that all GP practices have geographical boundaries, so you may be limited to registering at one of a selection of practices within a reasonable proximity to your home.

If you need any help or advice in registering with a GP, or more information on your nearest GP that is accepting patients, contact PALS on 0800 5879159.

Out of Hours Primary Care Services

Out-of-hours GP services

What are GP out of hours services?
If you or your family need medical attention when your GP practice is closed, call the normal surgery phone number and you will either be automatically transferred to the out of hours service, or be given a dedicated number for the service.

A qualified health advisor will advise you on an appropriate course of action. Your own GP will be told what has happened as soon as the surgery re-opens.

What happens if I need to use the GP out of hours service?
Having obtained the relevant number by calling your normal GP surgery, you will normally be called back by a doctor who will discuss and assess your condition, agreeing with you the best way in dealing with your condition. This may be by self-medication, arranging an appointment to see a doctor in one of the local primary care centres, or where clinically appropriate, a Doctor will visit your home.

The main primary care centre is located in the fracture clinic adjacent to the accident and emergency department of Southend Hospital (Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust).
